The Green Sower talks to Peter Garrett the Australian environment minister who is asleep on the job. After over a year in power and a lot of time wasting conferences and reports he is offering a measly 5% cut in greenhouse emissions by 2020. That is not what he promised at the last election. He said 20% or 40% by 2020 and 60% by 2050.5% is far short of what's required to stop climate change. Even 20% isnt enough. Garret used to make a lot of noise singing about the environment with his rock band - but now hes asleep. He hasnt show leadership on climate change. He watered down the policy he promised before the election.Hes wasting time hoping someone will develop the technology that will capture the CO2 from coal power stations and store it underground. But it wont work in time. Solar, wind, geothermal and wave technology are available now. Get him to stop mining coal. What are you doing asleep Garrett when the worlds in peril? Wake up and do something significant to stop climate change. Do your job you lazy environment minister.
